Peak Architects was formed in 2015 by architect Paul Holden; from the outset the ethos of the practice was to bring a fresh approach which is centred on client collaboration.

We have a growing reputation, and this is due to our talented and resourceful team who work in the belief that quality architecture comes about through client collaboration, good design, environmental awareness and innovation.

Paul Holden

Paul Holden




The practice is led by Paul Holden; who has over 20 years experience within the architectural and construction industry and formed Peak Architects in 2012.

Having studied at both Manchester and Oxford, he continued his training by working as an Urban Designer in Montpellier, France and then a further year working directly for International award winning architect Kiyonori Kikutake in Tokyo, Japan. Subsequently his career has enabled him to work both nationally and on the continent in delivering high quality ‘award winning’ residential and commercial projects for both individuals and large companies.

Paul is married with one child; he relaxes by fell running unfortunately displaying more enthusiasm than talent.

Matt Beach




Matt joined Peak Architects in August 2016 and brings over 15 years of experience in significant Commercial, Education, Health and Residential projects within the region.

Having studied at The University of Sheffield for Undergraduate, Diploma and Masters Degrees, Matt qualified as an Architect in 2006 and has worked locally ever since. He has a broad range of architectural experience from concept to completion and enjoys the challenges of designing from detail to master plan scales.

Matt is a highly skilled and creative designer and is capable of managing complex projects on-site. This is based on a broad appreciation of aspects of commercial viability, planning and technical knowledge combined with his passion for bespoke residential and interior design.

Lloyd Wilson

Lloyd Wilson

Architectural Associate



Lloyd has over 15 years experience within the industry with a broad portfolio of work across many sectors, most recently on Education and Commercial schemes. Combined with a healthy understanding of his profession he utilises his technical knowledge into live projects to ensure design quality is captured and delivered at every stage.

As a certified Autodesk professional he has a keen interest in the development of BIM and has experience in both the delivery and implementation on live projects understanding the benefits this can bring.

Lloyd is a fully chartered member of CIAT (Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists) ensuring he is kept at the forefront of the construction industry.

As a keen road cyclist and runner when he’s not glued to his laptop you might see him out and about around the peaks!

Alex Erskine

Part 2 Architectural Assistant


Alex joined Peak Architects in mid 2017 as a Part 2 Architectural Assistant, having completed his BA and MArch studies at Northumbria University. Where his BA (Hons) final year project was runner up for the Northumberland National Park Prize.

His experiences to date focus around the Education Sector working on secondary and further education teaching facilities and campus master planning, which he investigated further during his University studies. He is keen to continue the journey of becoming an Architect through aiming to undertake the Part 3 studies.

Alex relocated back to his home on the edge of the Peak District hoping to contribute to the surroundings where he grew up, spending most of his spare time mountain biking, running or playing for his local Hockey Club.

Nick Davis

Architectural Assistant


Nick joined Peak Architects as a Part-1 Architectural Assistant in mid-2016 after graduating from Sheffield Hallam University with a BSc in Architecture.

He is currently working on a number of residential projects located within the Peak Park that cross a wide range of architectural styles. These include a contemporary extension to a listed house and the complete refurbishment of a single storey dwelling located in the Hope Valley.

Nick enjoys contributing to and creating visual graphics for the projects.

He is currently working towards Part-2, the next stage of his Architectural education.

Outside of architecture Nick is a keen road cyclist, fell runner and has a passion for natural history and conservation.

Gerard Langley

Architectural Technologist


Gerard joined Peak Architects during the summer of 2017; having completed a degree in Architectural Technology at Sheffield Hallam University in 2017. During his studies he has undertaken a placement year to gain experience in the industry which furthered his knowledge in the use of BIM. He completed his course with First Class Honours and has been shortlisted for the CIAT National Student Award for Excellence in Architectural Technology- Project.

Gerard has a passion for technical design and the use of BIM. He is keen to further explore technical and sustainable approaches within the design and the build-ability of projects.

During his free time Gerard enjoys running and cycling around Sheffield as well as seeing the latest film releases. His passion for Guinness and coffee will certainly make him a good fit!
