Peak Architects were appointed by the client to design a new single storey family dwelling to replace their existing bungalow on a site in Fulwood, Sheffield.
With the height of the new house restricted by a covenant on the site, the form of the house was conceived as a series of solid ‘blocks’ at slightly varying heights, containing the garage, bedrooms and other private spaces respectively. These are then connected via a central living space, arranged to make the most of the sloping site and Sheffield views, opening out onto a South-East facing terrace via a series of large glazed sliding doors. Set below this is a separate pool house with its own terrace, nestled amongst the trees to give comparatively more privacy.
Materially, brick and timber cladding are used externally, carefully combined and with crisp detailing to compliment the expansive glazing.
