We take great pride in our high planning success rate in the Peak District National Park without compromise on design innovation.
The Peak District National Park Authority Design Guide 2007 is aimed at ‘anyone from householders to developers and provides advice on best practice, from simple house extensions and work buildings to housing estates.’
The guide covers the principles of good design, in harmony with local building traditions, blending traditional with contemporary whilst considering the neighbourhood.
It also encourages affordable housing, energy, water and waste efficiency, sustainability in materials and re-use of buildings and provision for wildlife.
It is worth pointing out that this document carries considerable weight in decision-making, having been subject to scrutiny and amendment through wide public consultation.
