Peak Architects were approached to reconfigure and extend a 1920s semi-detached house in Whirlow, to design a flexible open plan space to accommodate a modern kitchen, dining and living space with a rationalised first floor layout and loft conversion. A key objective was to reinstate the early century character of the dwelling internally and remove a series of unsympathetic modifications completed prior to purchase, replacing these with a simple linear extension to the rear of the property.
The scheme maximises natural light, a key element for the client, using a feature roof light and large sliding doors to the main living accommodation. Peak Architects worked in collaboration with interior designers, Wilding & Wolfe, to create a simple yet welcoming living space; and landscape designers, Bestall & Co, to produce a seamless integration with the re-developed garden.
