Peak Architects were invited to produce designs for the conversion of a pre-cast concrete 1930s holiday cottage into an eco home. Our approach was to retain the existing structure with overcladding and insulation of the existing building to enhance the thermal performance of the building.
In conjunction with this approach, a lightweight timber framed extension cantilevering from the existing structure was proposed.
The client's objective was to create an eco home and Peak Architects proposed the following sustainable aspects in order to achieve the brief:
- High levels of insulation including triple glazing - Whole house ventilation with a heat recovery system - Rainwater harvesting - Photovoltaic cells
