Peak Architects are excited to announce to have been shortlisted for the Northern Design Awards! Our design for the recently opened Bike and Boot Hotel in Bamford was shortlisted in the Commercial Build category. The Bike & Boot Hotel is a 3-star 60-bedroom hotel located in the heart of the Peak District. We worked directly with the landowner and operator, GIGI Developments, and in collaboration with Rachel McLane for interior design, we developed a detailed planning scheme for its delivery within the National Park.
We obtained planning consent from the Peak District National Park Authority back in 2019 and our design focussed on seamlessly blending the hotel with its natural surroundings, respecting the environment through careful material selection and sympathetic architectural design.
Simon Kershaw, founder of Bike and Boot Hotels said of the project: “People are excited to visit the hotel and are impressed with the project as a whole. As an operator, we are very happy and impressed with the quality of the design work that Peak Architects was involved in”.
The Bike & Boot reimagines the hotel concept for a modern audience, boasting eco-friendly additions such as EV charging points, cycle hire and rooms designed for outdoor enthusiasts and their dogs. The Bareca (Bar-Restaurant-Café), on-site Film Club and dog grooming service further showcase the hotel’s unique offering. In its 21st year, the Northern Design Awards will take place in Chester on 16th November. We’re up against some stiff competition so we’re honoured to have been recognised as a finalist.
